"Finding Fun in Change" is the focus for this Sunday's message. Change happens. Have you noticed? As you grow older, you have to work a little harder and eat a little less to keep the weight off. Just look at children. If you did not see them from one year to the next, you may not even recognize them. The jobs we hold, the houses we live in, the money we make, the people we love, the places we go, the way we think . . . everything changes. In the midst of this reality, there is one thing that never changes . . . the God we serve. We can rejoice in our God and we can deal with change because we know that that no matter what happens in life, He will always be there to see us through. He's the same yesterday, today and forever. And because He never changes, we can deal with change.
I would also like to encourage you to pray for one of our members, Jerry Manuel. Jerry has been the bench coach for the New York Mets baseball team and this week was promoted to be the head manager when Willie Randolph was fired. It is a huge responsibility in a highly visible media outlet. Jerry has a strong faith and because of his connection, I have become a Mets fan for sure.
The Dream It Conference begins on Monday and runs through Wednesday night. I would love to have you there to experience the teaching of some of today's great Christian leaders. We also worship the Lord under the direction of some great worship leaders. If you cannot make the daytime sessions, you can still register for any of the evening sessions. To register, visit www.dreamit.cc or call 856-5680.
Isaiah 43:18-19 "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. 19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland."
The joy of the Lord is our strength! I'll see you Sunday.

My Mom and Dad celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this past week and today is my Mom's 75th birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!! You are amazing and still so beautiful and gracious. You are one classy lady. You are one of a kind in the way you have allowed the Lord's love to shine through you. Thanks for being the best Mom in the whole wide world!!
This Sunday is Father's Day. I've been blessed with the best Dad in the whole wide world!! Thanks Dad for being a shining example of a joy-filled life and for leading others with excellence. Our world is a better place because of you. I am in awe of your energy and vision that continues to show the way to God's best.
This week I will speak on the subject, "Finding Joy in Trouble." I'm learning to be a little more cautious about the themes I choose to preach on. I ended up having the perfect experience from which to speak this message. While on a nice bike ride around Natomas Lake, I had a spectacular crash. I got going a little too fast around a corner and when I got off the path and hit some gravel, I lost control of my bike. I ended up landing on my back with the bike on top of me. I actually have no recall of the accident and cannot account for about one hour of time. Doug and Craig were with me and were able to transport me to emergency where I found out I had three broken ribs but no other injuries. My bike helmet saved me from any serious damage. I've been recovering well this week and can't wait to be with you at church this Sunday! I am filled with joy and thanksgiving amidst trouble. We are going to get our focus on the power and love of our God and be refueled for the days ahead.
"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world" (John 16:33).
The joy of the Lord is our strength! I'll see you Sunday.

How is your day going? Remember, this is the day the Lord has made. So . . . it's time to rejoice and be glad in it! Choose joy today. Turn away from negative thinking and complaining. Find someone to encourage and speak words of life to. This is a day to rejoice.
Don't miss Sunday! Comedian Mike Williams will be our guest. He will cause us to smile and also encourage us with his story of God's intervention in his life. Invite a friend and let's fill the house with joyful people.
I want to encourage you to take advantage of our Dream It Conference later this month. When we expose ourselves to the kind of leaders that will be speaking to us, we will grow and develop our leadership skills. I have a strong desire for you to join me in this pursuit of spiritual and personal growth.
Psalm 92:1,2,4,5 "It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High, 2 to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night . . . 4 For you make me glad by your deeds, O LORD; I sing for joy at the works of your hands. 5 How great are your works, O LORD, how profound your thoughts!"
Fun times ahead! I'll see you Sunday.
Together . . . Continuing the Dream,
Pastor Rick

I am in Florida today for a meeting with Dr. Rutland at Southeastern University. I always love coming here because of the servant leadership principles I learn from Dr. Rutland and the culture of Southeastern U.
Flying here yesterday was a bit of an adventure. I missed a connecting flight in Atlanta because of a medical emergency on board our plane. A man was having heart problems so they made an emergency landing in Memphis to get him to a hospital. I was grateful to know that the airlines would inconvenience a plane load of people for just one. It reminded me of the love that Jesus has for us. He will move heaven and earth to save just one! I was placed on a later flight and arrived at my destination at 1:30 a.m.
Now I am excited to return home for this weekend of meeting with you! Sunday we begin a new theme for the month of April . . . The Gift of Talents. We are going to dig into how God takes care of us and how we can manage the resources He provides in a way that honors Him and benefits us. In these times of economic uncertainty, we can be certain that God will take care of us.
We have had a tremendous response to forming small groups for the Truth Project which begins next week. I am confident we are going to learn and grow in our faith and in our relationships with each other through this Spring season. Don't miss it!
"Jesus said, 'If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free'" (John 8:31-32).
Can't wait to see you Sunday!!!

What an incredible Easter weekend!! Over 4300 attended the musical “Savior.” Over 1500 participated in the Easter Egg Hunt outreach for children. And, more than 7,000 attended our Easter Sunday services. Hundreds responded to the invitation to accept Christ as their personal Savior. Now we can build on the excitement of the resurrection as we continue to reach out to our community and beyond.
This Sunday’s focus will complete the Gift of Problems series for the month of March with the message titled, “GPS.” Where do we get our directions from? We have the perfect global positioning system available when we consult God for what He has in store for our lives. It’s going to be a great day!
Also, this is the day targeted for our “Gift of a Lifetime” emphasis for Capital Christian School. It is our goal to provide Christian education for the most affordable cost possible. As we provide financial assistance for families who could not access our school because of the cost, we make it possible to impact children’s lives for eternity. Not only do we touch a child now, but we make it possible for that child to become an influencer in their adult years. The impact is incalculable. Please consider what you could do to provide an offering that will bear fruit for a lifetime and beyond.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, 5who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls” (1 Peter 1:3-9).
