Three steps

If you're headed in a negative direction, getting back on track may seem hopelessly out of reach. Yet by taking just three steps you can completely change your prospects for the better.

Take one positive step, and you'll stop moving backwards. Take a second positive step, and you'll begin moving forward.

Then take the third step in a positive direction, and suddenly you've established real momentum. From that point, each successive positive effort comes more naturally and easily.

No matter how low you may be, at any point you are just three steps away from a whole different outlook. Just three small, positive actions can get you headed solidly in a new, empowering direction.

In addition, taking three positive steps will give you a real sense of commitment. These actions will get you quickly and firmly invested in your own success.

Wherever you are now, you are just three steps away from being well on your way to whatever goal you choose. Now is indeed the best time to act.

Ps 37:23-24

The steps of good men are directed by the Lord. He delights in each step they take. If they fall it isn't fatal, for the Lord holds them with his hand. TLB

Pastor Samuel GordonThe other side of effort | Tuesday, December 18, 2007 7:46 PM | No comments available

The other side of effort

On the other side of effort is accomplishment. On the other side of effort is the achievement of your goal.

From where you now stand, the effort may look like something you would rather avoid.  The challenges may appear to be imposing and even insurmountable.

Think for a moment, though, about what things will look like from the other side of the effort, when it is finished.  Consider how it will be once you've made the effort and moved through the challenges.

Looking back on the effort, you'll be thankful you did it.  Looking back on the challenges, you'll know how much stronger and more capable they made you.

Looking back on the whole experience, you'll realize that your commitment and persistence took you somewhere special.  They took you precisely where you had chosen to go.

The effort you now face will make significant demands of you, and yet the rewards are many.  Choose now to start working your way to the other side.

1 Cor 9:24-25

In a race everyone runs, but only one person gets first prize. So run your race to win. To win the contest you must deny yourselves many things that would keep you from doing your best. An athlete goes to all this trouble just to win a blue ribbon or a silver cup, but we do it for a heavenly reward that never disappears. TLB

In control

There are lots of temptations and there are plenty of excuses. Keep in mind, though, that you are in control of you.

To reach the destination you have chosen, you must follow the path that will take you there.  And while diversions and distractions will constantly come along, remember that you are in control of you.

Your thoughts, your words and your actions are precisely the ones you choose.  They can take you anywhere you would like to go.

Though many things are out of your control, you are always in control of you.  You can respond, you can adjust, you can persist and you can move in the direction of your dreams, no matter what the outside factors may be.

You are in control of you.  Your decisions in each and every moment determine the quality of life that you live.

It is a heavy responsibility and a magnificent opportunity.  You are in control of you, and you will always go right where your actions take you.

Start With Joy!!!!!!!!!!!!
T
here's a reason why the sunrise is so beautiful and magnificent. It sets the stage for a positive, fulfilling day.

When you start the day by choosing to be joyful, you put yourself in a creative, effective state of mind. You'll make yourself better able to handle whatever may come your way during the day.

A relationship that gets off to a positive start at the very beginning will quickly flourish and build great value. You can forge a positive relationship with each day when you begin it in a joyful way.

Even if the day is gray and gloomy you can choose to start it with a positive experience of your own making. Fulfillment comes to those who make it happen, and there's no better time than the beginning of your day to start moving forward.

There's an endless list of ways in which you can begin the day on a positive note. And the days that start well have the best chance of going well.

A new day arrives, ready to be lived. Choose to start it with joy.

Ps 118:24
This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. TLB

Pastor Samuel GordonChoose your attitude | Friday, November 30, 2007 5:04 PM | No comments available

Choose your attitude

When you turn your attitude over to other people or to random circumstances, it's going to be volatile, undependable and not very productive.  By contrast, when you choose your own attitude, independent of what's happening around you, then you set yourself up to make swift and positive progress.

Your attitude serves as a lens through which you see life, and it's best when that lens is focused on the positive possibilities.  Your attitude can enable you to make the most of difficult situations, to find and to create enormous value in your world.

There is absolutely nothing that forces you to adopt one particular attitude over another. When you get in the habit of consciously choosing to have a positive, empowering attitude, you become gloriously free to achieve the things that are most meaningful to you.

Your attitude is always yours to select. Doesn't it make sense to select an attitude that will foster peak performance and effectiveness no matter what may be going on around you?

Don't let anyone or anything else control something as critically important as your attitude. Now, and always, choose an attitude that will enable you to soar high.

Isa 26:3-4
He will keep in perfect peace all those who trust in him, whose thoughts turn often to the Lord! Trust in the Lord God always, for in the Lord Jehovah is your everlasting strength.
